Cheryl Travis grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania, and has been living in Bel Air for over 28 years. She has a Bachelors degree in Biology from Mansfield State College in Mansfield, Pennsylvania and is a proud Army Veteran. While in the Army, Cheryl worked at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research researching vaccines.
Her first experience with quilting was in the early 80’s when she took a class to learn how to make the cathedral window block and also learned how to fabric stencil. Cheryl finally took a proper beginning quilting class where she learned how to do everything from drafting blocks to quilting the blocks and she was definitely hooked on quilting from then on.
Cheryl has been a crafter all her life, but quilting is her passion. She has over 27 years of experience teaching quilting and other crafts. Cheryl taught beginning and intermediate quilting classes for over 14 years at the Bel Air and Aberdeen Senior Centers and continues to teach in local quilt shops around Bel Air, Maryland. She absolutely loves teaching all levels of quilters and enjoys teaching all types of quilting techniques.
