Peg Bingham

Peg Bingham first became fascinated with quilting in the 1970s while studying clothing and textiles in college.  Peg has been avidly quilting since then, honing her skills in machine quilting, piecing, and applique.  She has developed of a pattern line featuring pieced Celtic Knot designs, called Peg’s Patches and teaches quilting workshops for private guilds, quilt shops, and quilting retreats to spread the joys of this wonderful craft.  In August, 2010, Peg received a Masters of Arts degree in Clothing, Textiles, and Interiors from the University of Akron.  Her thesis was entitled “Professional Machine Quilting and its Impact on the Contemporary Quilt Movement.”  Peg is director emeritus of The Quilt Camps at Cedar Lakes featuring two annual quilting events.  These events provide opportunities for education, growth, relaxation, and camaraderie for quiltmakers from all over the country.  In recent years, Peg’s quiltmaking expertise and knowledge has been employed in judging quilt shows and competitions, using both the elimination and number-grading systems.  As with all phases in Peg’s quilting career, she is pursuing it with the commitment to excellence and integrity that highlights all her endeavors.
