Ohio Traditions in Quiltmaking

Elizabeth Bauman

Level 1 – Teaches basic use of a sewing machine, ironing/pressing, rotary tools as well as proper thread tension, stitch size, and seam allowance consistency, appropriate for true beginners.

Ohio Traditions in Quilting: This Two-Block Focus Class is a fun, hands-on journey that celebrates America’s 250th birthday by exploring two traditional Ohio blocks: the pieced Ohio Star and the appliquéd Ohio Rose. In this class you’ll learn to sew the quarter-square triangles that form the Ohio Star and to create the Rose with freezer-paper templates. You'll learn to do invisible turned-edge applique by machine, but also have the option to do the applique by hand.
Open to confident beginners as well as more experienced quilters seeking to expand their repertoire, you’ll leave with two finished blocks that honor Ohio’s quilting heritage while marking the broader American tradition celebrated in this milestone year.

Pattern fee : $12 payable to teacher at the start of class.
