405 Classy Cardigan
Monday - Thursday
Machine : Piecing & Applique
This classy cardigan jacket is fingertip length, slenderizing in style with a flattering fit. Due to the unique construction, the jacket is also reversible. The seams are exposed to the outside, finished with bias (quilt binding style) creating a totally completed jacket on the inside. Endless creative possibilities can be explored on both the front and back yokes while applying seminole piecing and many decorative techniques to add texture and design to other elements of this "work of art" jacket. Start with a fat quarter of one of your favorite fabrics and build your jacket's color palette from there.
Connie Sawdy grew up in rural northern Ohio on a farm. Starting at age ten, her love for sewing and making things was kindled when she joined the Ohio-founded organization of 4-H. After many county fairs and blue ribbons, her passion for sewing never waned. She continued to share her garment sewing talents over the years with friends and family including making many wedding, graduation and prom dresses.
Now living in western North Carolina, she is a retired Ohio art teacher that took up quilting in 2000 when she successfully enticed her teaching peers to quilt after school in her art room. Since then, she has had collected many awards in local quilt shows and taught in several Ohio and NC quilt shops, which satisfies both her creative artistic side and her love of teaching.
