Machine Applique and Quilting

Get Creative! Make your own personal quilt using images from photos or drawings that inspire you. In this workshop you will learn to use fusible web and raw edge free form machine appliqué. This lets you add detail and texture to your design. Bring life to your favorite memory: from places you've traveled, to flowers and nature, to buildings and structures and more. A pattern from the instructor is also available for use.
Optional Kit cost: $20.
Tone Haugen-Cogburn
Tone was born in Norway, but moved to the US in 1987 and has spent most of that time in Maryville, TN. She has found that this is a wonderful place to find inspiration for quilts, both traditional and contemporary. Tone has over 30 years of experience in traditional quilting and new techniques in surface design. She brings her extensive experience to the classroom and loves teaching workshops focusing on contemporary quiltmaking. She hopes to inspire new and experienced quilters to create individual and personal quilts. Much of her inspiration comes from teaching workshops and meeting quilters from all over the world. Architectural studies have also been a great influence in her quilts, which are often pictorial in nature. Her quilts have been exhibited in countries including Norway, Denmark, England, France and Japan as well as in national shows like AQS in Paducah and Knoxville, and International Quilt Festival in Houston. Her quilts have been published in many books and magazines including AQS, Quilt Maker, Quilter’s Newsletter and Quilting Arts. In 2009 she finished a 3-year study on experimental patchwork and quilting through City & Guilds in England, and she continues to pursue more challenging adventures
