207 Two Half and To Hold
Wednesday & Thursday
Machine : Piecing & Applique
“Two Half” & To Hold screams wedding quilt or a favorite for heart and log cabin quilt lovers! It was design by Raggedy Ruth Designs™ to highlight BOTH the Bride’s and Groom’s favorite colors. Each Heart and Log Cabin Block alternates with half of the Bride’s color and half the Groom’s color. This theme carries on to the pieced triangular edging.
The effect is accomplished by using four shades of each of the two colors [the bride’s and the groom’s] in making the Log Cabin Blocks. These Log Cabin Blocks are the basis for the hearts as well as the alternate blocks.
The curved sections of the hearts (using the very dark [DK] fabrics listed on the Fabric Requirements) are appliqued and then pieced onto the hearts’ Log Cabin sections. Ruth has supplied a template in the pattern to be used to create the properly curved heart portions and uses a neat gathering trick to evenly fold the curved edge underneath.
NOT Featherweight Friendly.
Ruth began sewing early in life in rural Ohio. Her first baby quilt was made in 1994 for the birth of her son, Peter. In 2003, the purchase of a longarm quilting machine led to the start of a full service quilt shop, Forever in Stitches. Quilt pattern design has always been a part of Ruth's journey, first published in Better Homes & Gardens in 2011. Creation of patterns has led to perfecting techniques and specialized ruler invention to help anyone make perfect pieced points and blocks. Ruth enjoys sharing her passion of quilting with others. She always seems to have the time to answer the most basic or intricate questions. She has given scores of talks, demonstrations, workshops, classes, trunk shows, and signings at guilds, national shows, regional shows, local shows, shop-hops, quilt shops, churches and civic organizations.
