Wonky Snowmen 39” x 49” No hats or mittens needed to make these Wonky Snowmen. Appliqué pieces are made with fusible web. You will learn to machine appliqué the raw edges. If you prefer to do hand appliqué, you are welcome to join us, but this will not be taught in class. An easy technique to make perfectly sized wonky blocks will be taught. This technique may be used on any other patchwork or appliqué blocks, redwork or panel prints You may choose to make nine or twelve snowmen. Some students make three block door hangers to use as Christmas gifts. After the quilt top is sewn, embellish it with buttons, snaps, lace, ribbons, charms or by embroidering snowflakes in the background of the blocks. You need to know your way around your own sewing machine.
Pattern fee: $10.
Ruthann especially enjoys teaching new quilters, watching the sparkle in their eyes when they get a block sewn together. Machine appliqué is her favorite method of quilting. In 1999, she joined the Cascade Quilt Guild of Akron and has been quilting since.
Ruthann retired from the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library with 26 years of service. She has been teaching in her community since 2002, when she organized a guild for beginner quilters, which still meets twice a month. She has also taught classes for guilds and a NEORQC Getaway, at Katie Brooke Quilt Shop formerly in Kent, Ohio, Bernina Store, formerly in Twinsburg, Ohio and at The Quilt Camp at Cedar Lakes.
She has a small pattern business on the internet, Going 2 Pieces Quilts.
Married for 50 years, she has three children, five grandsons and two cats.
In her spare time, she is a barista.
